dressing up the fridge

I made a simple fabric pocket and put some strong magnets in the back for a coupon holder for the fridge--- rather than having them scattered across the whole fridge... so i've cleaned it up a bit. woohoo!

Also I added some color using this idea from d*S and I think it looks pretty awesome.

slimcado?

I picked up a "green skinned avocado" at the grocery store - it was HUGE and same price as the other avocados. It was hard as a rock and when I got home I noticed that the sticker said "Slimcado-half the fat of regular avocados" OK.....

I waited four days until it had softened
It looked pretty normal on the inside - tasted it and it was pretty blah.
But I jazzed it up with some home grown tomatoes, serrano, cilantro, salt and garlic for really really good guacamole. BUT it was more liquidy than normal because the slimcado has a high water content. One avocado made a pretty large amount of guac. Will stick with my normal avocados though.

mushroom cake

Mushroom cake doesn't sound delicious, but this one was.

It's a Super Mario red mushroom cake!! I made it for a friend's birthday, and it turned out better than I expected

I borrowed this cake pan to get the shape easily
And the frosting was a mix of instant pudding mix and a container of whipped topping... which was great, except it took a whole bottle of red before it stopped looking just pink, something to keep in mind if I use that frosting recipe again.. it would be awesome for pastels. :-/
The white spots are marshmallows and the eyes are oreo pieces !!

easy sushi

easy sushi rolls = Win!
I will be making these more as the weather is warming up!! yum
This is a good link for making sushi rice. the key is in the vinegar..

My ingredient list was : Nori (seaweed) sheets, sushi rice, cucumber, carrot, avocado, wasabi, crab sticks, green onion. Soy sauce for dipping...
I've only tried it a few times now, but it is really fun.
Also, in no way can mine compare to eating out: Matsu has been good to me thus far

no green thumb here

my last attempt at growing edibles was only indoors, and while it started off hopeful...(beans and herbs) it didn't end well.
I will be planting a (real) garden very soon! I at least hope for delicious homegrown tomatoes :)

I hear this is the place in kansas city to get started: Planters Seed
